Week 3: DISCIPLESHIP MEANS ALIGNMENT
WEEK 3: DISCIPLESHIP MEANS ALIGNMENT
Malo e lelei everyone!
WHATS GOING ON EVERYBODY! I hope you all had a great week, like me!
So much to share about this this week, but we have officially started learning the Tongan Langauge! I am going to be honest, I came in with my ego so high thinking that I knew so much Tongan and that it was so easy, but um no your girl was humbled real quick. We’ve started learning how to introduce ourselves and our companions. There I was feeling confident and then got humbled right quick. Yesterday in class we started off with the proper way of introducing your family, and I got frustated and cried lol.
Because I am such a perfectionist, and the fact that my teacher was explaining everything to us in plain English, left me feeling like I was on a whole other world. Simply because I could not get what he was saying to me. Like it was in English!
After I had my moment to cry, my hoa said to me you’re doing great and that you’re not alone. It’s just what I needed to hear! Hearing that reassuared me that not only did I need to have faith in myself, but to have faith that I could and will eventually be able to speak Tongan more confidently, because the Savior will help me through this, just as he has with so many complicated school tests and exams.

My title of this week- I want to talk about being a disciple of Jesus Christ and what I have come to know. This past Sunday we had the opportunity to hear from one of the 70s of the church Elder Pearson and his wife! I love the messages that they shared. Elder Pearson talked about 2 ways that we can be disciples of Jesus Christ:
1. Obedience
Obedience is the first law of the kingdom and really emphasized how important it is to be obedient as a missionary. We have many rules that are set in place. Many will take a look at it and say it's hard or dumb, but I've come to love the rules that are set for us missionaries. As they are there not only preparing us for our missions and our lives after, but these rules keep us safe from both physical and spiritual danger.
2. Willingness to submit to the Fathers will.
This principle here really hit me. Elder Pearson shared that as a missionary we teach people about how they can become true disciples of Jesus Christ too by having a desire to change. I love what Elder Pearson shared with us which was, "allow yourself to be in the will of the Father...You have always been faithful, You have always chosen God, but You have always known."
I personally LOVE THAT QUOTE! With learning a new Langauge and more of the Doctrine of Christ it's been really hard, but doable. Hearing Elder Pearson share this message with us reminded me of the importance for me to be willing to be obedient, have patience, and be filled with charity as I prepare to serve the people of Tonga.I am learning more and more each day what I need to do, to be a true follower of Jesus Christ and that is that I must be willing to submit myself to the Lord so that we can be like Him. It means to change your ways and be like the Savior is. I love what my dad always said and taught us which is “ Be like Jesus." And I want to be like Jesus. I may not ever be 100% like Him or be perfect, but I know that as I follow His example and His teachings by applying them to my life, I am becoming a true Disciple of Jesus Chirst!
I love the Savior and all that He does. I've had many experiences here that have helped me grow daily. He lives and loves you. I hope you all know that! Until next week.
Ofa atu,
Sister Moala
